New lines for August

New lines for the summer

We have a number of new lines this week, all based on things that have taken our eye as we’ve been about on our holidays.

Cawston Press in fridgeCawston Press

Rhubarb and Apple Pop (330ml for 99p)

Joining our expanding natural ‘pop’ in the fridge and on the shelf is a zingy little number from Cawston Press, who are based close by in Kettering. It’s made with sparkling water, rhubarb and apple juice, vitamin C, sugar and malic acid (to keep the sour flavour).

Cawston Press on shelfApple and Elderflower Juice (1l for £2.57)

This is a lovely flavoured juice, not from concentrate – the ingredients are simply apple juice, elderflower infusion and vitamin C. This joins the Lemonade we also have in the shop from Cawston Vale.

Pom bearsPom Bears cheese and onion crisps (19g for 49p)

Pom Bears are approved by The Vegetarian Society and are one of my favourite snacks. They’re gluten free and they’re cooked in sunflower oil to make them lower in saturated fat than most crisps. There are no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives.

Fry's Peppermint CreamFry’s Peppermint Cream – 69p each

Just because, to be honest.  Get them while you can…

Hemp oil (260ml for £6.99)

A customer request, and manufactured by Wellingborough company Granovita. Hemp seed oil is reputed to be the most unsaturated oil derived from the plant kingdom. It’s also high in Omega 3 & 6 oils, which are essential for cell growth and maintenance. It can be used in cooking (although not at high temperatures), skin care and hair care. Hemp and sesame oilsSesame oil (150ml for £2.25)

Used very much in Chinese cooking, this should be drizzled over food just before cooking or as an ingredient for sauces. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and is good for your skin as a rub.

Coconut milkCoconut milk light (400ml for £1.75)

A lower fat alternative to coconut cooking milk.

Flaxseed and milledOrganic Milled Flaxseed (300g for £4.85)

We’ve sold flax seed for a while but it’s best used ground so we’ve added this, again from Granovita. It’s rich in Omega 3, it’s vegan and gluten free. It can be added to cereals, salads, soups, smoothies, etc.

Fresh fruitFresh fruit!

We’re experimenting with apples and pears this week – they’re in the fridge.
