Fry’s Soy and Quinoa Country Roast
There’s always a lot going on on Christmas Day, so why not make it a little easier for yourself by cooking one of these delicious pre-made roasts on the day? These are a brand new product from Fry’s, launched at VegFest in London in October and I was lucky enough to be able to buy one on the day. It formed part of our Sunday dinner in the month and it went down very well, even with my fussy daughter (who never tries any new savoury things so this must have looked tempting!) – we’re with the in-laws this year so I’ll be cooking this the evening before and warming through for dinner.
It’s a high protein food, what with it being made with quinoa – all of us meat-avoiders know how good quinoa is for us, don’t we?! As with all Fry’s Family Foods, it’s 100% vegan and tasty, low in fat (less than 10g per 100g), high in Omega 3 and 6 oils (good fats!) and GMO free. All you need to do is defrost it in the fridge and cook in the oven for about half an hour. It has a lovely texture; I felt it was quite ‘sausagey’ and was really moreish. It serves 5, but we polished it off between 4 of us very nicely. Wherever you can get these, they sell at £5.50, but Hornett Wholefoods currently has them at £4.35 each until Christmas Eve – come and grab a bargain!
