Veganuary 11th – 16th January

VeganuaryIt’s been Veganuary for almost two weeks now; how’s it going for you? We have three things that ought to make it easier for you this week…

Squirty cream (£2.49/£2.24 with 10% off)

Schlagfix-60x60OK, not exactly an essential but it’s still a good thing to have in the cupboard! This really is tasty and demonstrates exactly how much better vegan alternatives are these days. We served this to our meat-eating family at new year (along with vegan cake and meringues) and no-one was any the wiser; in fact a couple of them wanted to know what brand the cream was as it was the nicest they’d had! It’s a German product imported by VBites and there’s no English on the can so I’m printing the ingredients and nutritional information here exclusively:

Ingredients:
Water; Vegetable fat (15%); Sugar (10%); Corn syrup; soy protein isolate; Emulsifiers: E471, E481, E435; Salt, flavor, stabilizer: carrageenan; Color: beta-carotene, propellant: nitrous oxide.
Nutritional info per 100g: Energy: 866 kJ / 208 kcal Protein: 0.5 g Carbohydrates: 17,8 g – of which sugars: 13.9g – of which lactose: 0.0 g Fat: 15.0 g – saturated fat:14.9 g cholesterol: 0 mg, Dietary Fiber: 0 g sodium: <0.1 g

Truly showing that it’s much more than the sum of its parts…

GranoVita Mock Duck (£2.45/£2.20 with 10% off)

Gvita mock duckOne of the favourite products in our household, this is a really tasty meat alternative, made with wheat gluten. It’s delicious served in stir fries or in stews, it goes as well as you’d expect with hoi sin sauce for a tasty Chinese style meal with pancakes and vegetables. It’s low fat, low carbs and low calorie (it’s syn-free on Slimming World!) so it’s really healthy as well as being tasty. The ingredients and nutritional information are printed in English on this product, so there’s no need for me to print them here! 😉

Suma Pesto Siciliana (£2.89/£2.60 with 10% off)

pesto siciliana SUM-PESS_51Pesto is one of the things that is so easy to cook with, yet it’s so difficult to find them in the shops – they always have parmesan in them, which is never vegetarian, let alone vegan. Vegetarian alternatives are becoming more and more popular and easier to find, which is great, but a vegan pesto? How is that even possible? Let me answer that question with this delicious product! With a delicious blend of basil, olive oil, sunflower oil, almonds and seasoning, there’s no need to look too far for something to add to pasta or rice for an evening meal or lunch. This is also organic so when stirred through our organic tricolore pasta, you have a delicious and quick meal. You can even sprinkle over some of our vegan Violife Prosociano, a parmesan style cheese!

The three highlighted items all have 10% off them until Saturday 16th January, so come and grab them while you can at these special prices. The offer will change to three more products next week – stay tuned to see what they are…
